The Workplace Risk Factors Evaluated According to the HSE.

The Health and Safety Executive outlines some of the health associated factors that may result to work related risks. The work pressure can lead to psychosocial problems which make people vulnerable to musculoskeletal problems it also leads to accumulating amounts of stress. For example, if we consider most work duties in various organizations in the UK, strict deadlines, much work, constant employee pressure and workplace conditions can cause adverse stress and discomfort to the employees.  It is important to consider both parties involved in any typical work environment that is the staff and employers. Employers who are the friendly pose of significant influence to their workers compared to the strict and hard to please employers’.According to the HSE, it is important that the managers interact well with their employees to be aware of their challenges in the workplace. Problems in the workplace can easily get a solution if the employer narrows own to the subordinate staff regarding obtaining how their situation in the workplace can best be improved. For the success of any organization, the parties involved both directly and indirectly in offering their services must be given appropriate attention. Majority job strikes in workplace and boycott of duty arise because of the inadequate communication channels within the organization. The factors that contribute to leading risks in the place of work fall into two main groups that are the general employers and employees’ attitude and the working environment.

Attitude

Attitude is the driving force for individuals within the organization, a comparison of position is like having a flat tire. Which can never allow you to get anywhere until you have changed it? Employees whether skilled or semiskilled, their position plays a key role in how much they input regarding effort and success for the company. Attitude is related directly to how the workers view their job, the salary or wages they receive and even the kind of career security they have within the organization. Some employees always fear that they may lose their positions especially in instances which the workers are overwhelming in the company. For example, employees employed on contract or temporal basis may be to replace a staff on leave is not comparable to those used on a permanent basis. The casual workers are always in fear that they may soon be out of their positions again into the dark world of unemployment. As recommended by HSE job security contributes to the overall staff attitude towards the job he/she is employed to do. A negative attitude has a significant impact on the organization productivity and hence there is a need to ensure there is a positive attitude among the staff members irrespective of whether they get a job on the permanent or temporal basis. It is important that the employers make use of safe behavioral training which plays a significant role in improving the staff morale. It is also important for even the managers and senior officers in the organization to get the training since it helps in handling the junior staff in the right manner hence creating a flat playground for all the staff members within the organization. In the UK majority group has come up with new ways of ensuring the morale of both the employers and employees are improved. Other means of achieving this is by the use of performance appraisal for the most influential and improved contributors to the company’s success. By recognizing the staff members or specific departments which have shown significant improvement, it helps in increasing the motivation of the members and hence creating a positive attitude towards the job they are in a judge. By organizing for outings and other recreation activities for the organization helps in interaction and mixture of the staff members to boost the staff morale.

The HSE has confirmed the effectiveness of improving the customer confidence and attitude equally since it promotes improvement in the line of duty. A positive attitude is the driving wheel of every success already stipulated. The employers should also set realistic targets to ensure that the employees are not under constant pressure to perform or achieve its goals. Among the many reasons for poor attitude is too much pressure and hence when the employees cannot keep up with the employers pace they tend to develop a negative attitude towards not only the company but also the job they are doing.

Ensuring the best workplace environment

An ideal environment for a given job should not pose a psychological threat to the employees and top employers. The HSE recommends that instead of having boring arguments and gossips the work environment can instead be with soft music and well-aerated working offices. The cleanliness within and outside the workplace should be at high standard. Apart from the physical environment, the involvement of the staff in decision making promotes goodwill among the employees and the employers. It is always a necessity that during annual organization meetings the employees should have representatives to ensure they are also involved in decision making and formulation of policies for the good and success of the company. In some jobs requiring a shift in most UK organization demand that there be a need for equal and uniform decisions to balance for all the parties. The HSE has an outline of the possible actions to be taken to ensure that there is involvement and consulting with the workers before carrying out any plans within the UK. It is evident that some of the recommendations are simple and easy to implement. Some of the relevant solutions to this risks are ensuring that there is no imposing of unrealistic targets, the involvement of the workforce and lastly but not least keeping channels of communication active within the organization.

It is important to note that even though all the problems are not solved immediately, or they do not seem to be significant, they are very applicable to a minority group within the organization. Some these factors affect the workers, and the employer plays a vital role in ensuring they get a solution before they become adverse.
